Curator Summary

You'll own VAT compliance for Fanatics' 20+ global registrations across monthly filing cycles while supporting broader tax matters across the international Commerce, Collectibles, and Betting & Gaming divisions. This high-impact role reporting to the Head of Tax & Treasury sits at the centre of a rapidly scaling business with significant growth trajectory and genuine opportunity for progression across a diverse, expanding enterprise.

About the Role

About Fanatics Commerce

At Fanatics Commerce, we're more than just a leader in licensed sports merchandise – we're a team united by a relentless passion for our fans and a commitment to innovation. We live by our BOLD Leadership principles: We Build Championship Teams, we're Obsessed with Fans, we embrace a Limitless Entrepreneurial Spirit, and we approach every challenge with a Determined and Relentless Mindset. If you're ready to contribute to a dynamic, fast-paced environment that thrives on collaboration and growth, we want you to be part of our team.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on tax role sitting within a small, high-performing Tax & Treasury team at the centre of Fanatics International's finance function. Reporting directly to the Head of Tax & Treasury, the Tax Manager will take primary ownership of the Group's monthly VAT compliance cycle across multiple jurisdictions, while also supporting on wider tax compliance across direct and employment taxes, ad hoc technical queries, and day-to-day business partnering across the international business. While this role sits within Commerce, it operates across the full breadth of the Fanatics enterprise — spanning Commerce, Collectibles, and Betting & Gaming. As Fanatics continues to scale, so too does the Tax function and the scope of responsibility that comes with it. This makes it an exceptional time to join: the growth trajectory for both the business and this role is significant, offering genuine opportunity for impact, progression, and broadening expertise across a diverse and expanding enterprise.

How You Will Make an Impact

VAT & Indirect Tax Compliance — Primary Ownership

  • Own the end-to-end monthly VAT compliance process across UK and international entities, including preparation, review, and submission of returns across 20+ registrations in the UK, EU, and wider international markets
  • Maintain and reconcile VAT ledger positions across entities, ensuring balances are accurate and well-evidenced with a clear audit trail
  • Manage relationships with third-party compliance agents to ensure accurate, on-time filing in each market
  • Prepare VAT payment schedules and communicate cash flow implications of VAT liabilities and reclaims to Treasury
  • Maintain the Group's VAT registration portfolio, tracking filing frequencies, deadlines, and obligations as the business enters new markets
  • Assist with VAT technical issues, including supply classification, supply chain movements, and cross-border place of supply questions
  • Assist in managing VAT audits and correspondence from tax authorities, including draft responses and supporting schedules

Corporation Tax Compliance — Support & Coordination

  • Act as primary internal coordinator for corporation tax compliance across UK and international entities, gathering information for external advisers
  • Prepare supporting schedules for UK corporation tax returns, including capital allowances, R&D analysis, and intercompany transaction summaries
  • Assist with tax provision workings and current/deferred tax calculations during financial close
  • Support review and filing of international corporate tax returns, liaising with local advisers
  • Help maintain transfer pricing documentation, including gathering data to support local file content

Business Partnering & Ad Hoc Advisory

  • Act as first point of contact for tax queries from Finance, Commercial, Legal, and Operations, providing clear, practical guidance
  • Support technical input on new commercial arrangements, including marketplace launches and cross-border supply chains
  • Assist with tax analysis of new market entries, including VAT registration, withholding tax, and customs duty implications
  • Help prepare briefing notes and internal communications on emerging tax developments across UK, EU, and international markets

Controls, Governance & Process

  • Support the Group's tax control framework, including evidence for SAO certification
  • Maintain process documentation and compliance checklists for consistent execution
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy
  • Support preparation of materials for the tax risk register and reporting to CFO and Finance leadership

What You Bring to the Team

Essential

  • Hands on VAT/indirect tax experience
  • Demonstrable experience of managing or materially contributing to a multi-entity VAT compliance cycle — including return preparation, reconciliation, and filing.
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to compliance work — someone who takes ownership of their numbers and doesn't let things fall through the gaps.
  • Able to communicate tax issues clearly and confidently to non-tax colleagues, without unnecessary jargon.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift — and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously without dropping standards.

Desirable

  • Broader tax experience beyond VAT — including exposure to corporation tax compliance, transfer pricing, withholding taxes, or international indirect tax (GST, digital services taxes).
  • ACA, CTA, ATT, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously, particularly within the EU or broader international markets.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, or Oracle) and how VAT is determined and posted at the transaction level.
  • Experience with indirect tax compliance platforms or tools (e.g. Avalara, OneSource, or similar).
  • Background in e-commerce, retail, digital goods, or sports/entertainment — sectors where VAT supply chain complexity is the norm rather than the exception
